Snickerdoodles


My husband thinks that I make the BEST snickerdooles in the world. Well, I just followed this recipe and, if I do say so myself, they are pretty dang good!

Cream together:
1/2 C shortening
1 ½ C sugar
½ C butter
2 eggs

Add:
2 ¾ or 3 C flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tarter

Mix, then add 1 tsp vanilla and 1/3 tsp lemon extract.
Makes a very soft dough, chill if desired. Make balls
the size of walnuts; roll in a bowl of 2 T sugar and 2 tsp
cinnamon mixed. Bake 400 degrees until light brown
but still soft about 8-10 min.
